Could anyone out there tell me how to get to the livewell pump on a 1998 Skeeter 195c bass boat? Also, when i take the transom bar off the motor the motor "slowly" drops down 0n its own. I can raise it up and it will do the same thing. Any ideas on this? I just bought the boat and obviously know nothing about repair. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Skeet.

The livewell pump should be mounted at the bottom of the transom. Most have a 3/4" threaded pipe that goes through the transom and a nut screws on the outside. Seal it with silicon as you put it together.
If the motor does not stay up, the fluid in the trim/tilt unit may be low, otehrwise, the seals on the trim/tilt unit need to be replaced. I have a new livewell pump that pumped a few minutes and then quit. The motor runs, the lines are clear and the impeller is still connected to the shaft. Any ideas?..thanx |

twofarmers, Thanks for your help. The livewell pumps were where you said they would be. I have a appointment for 1/29/08 to have them replaced and the "motor drop" problem fixed. It sounds like your pump problem could be electrical. Good luck and thanks again. Skeet

CB..the pump is getting the correct voltage and is running. The "newest" theory is that the tube coming from the pump goes down below the pump and then up to the livewell. This makes the impeller the highest point in the circuit. When you turn it off, the water drains away from the pump and it does not self prime.
