Engine won't start; No spark
Engine: 1990 Mercruiser 4.3LX with Thunderbolt IV ignition. Engine was starting and running great. Pulled into dock, engine stalled when I shifted into neutral (not uncommon). Engine would then not start afterward. I checked for voltage at the (+) side of the coil with the ign switch on, got 12V+. Disconnected the (-) side of the coil wires, connected a jumper wire, and brushed it over the (-) side of the batt with the ign switch on. Coil sparked.
Could the shift 'cut-off' switch cause 'no-spark' (even with voltage at the coil)? What is the proper way to jumper around the shift 'cut-off' switch? Can the ignition amplifier be tested? Any help is appreciated.

You can remove the coil wire from the cap,lay it by some metal,turn key on,move the shift interrupter switch back and forth it should spark.
