1978 Johnson 70 HP
Hello All
I have a 1978 Johnson 70 hp Model is 70EL78C Serial is J4934075 I have took all three carbs off and took the bowl off to get to the high speed orifice. It is clean and no clogges. I set the float at 1-1/8 to 1-5/8 like the manual say to do. I clean the inlet valve and also clean the low-speed orifice.Bolt gaskets seen to be fine so I put them back. I still can't get but 1800 to 2000 rpm out of the engine. Can you tell me why i am not getting 4500 to 5500 rpm out of this motor. parkerfork@yahoo.com

Does the motor seem to run good? If so check the prop hub see if it spun.

If it was the hub on the propeller he would still be able to get the correct RPM out of the motor just not the speed. I am having the same issue with my 40 Johnson.
