Default '99 Johnson 130 Oceanpro tilt stuck

My Johnson 130 Oceanpro is stuck in the full tilt up position. Everything was working fine until last weekend. I raised the motor all the way up and then removed the tilt reservoir cap to check the fluid level, which was fine. I then put the cap back and now the motor won't go down! The tilt motor is working but the piston isn't. I've even tried to muscle it down while pressing the onboard titl down button but no-go. I also tried to turn the manual release screw on the side but it won't budge at all, even with an impact screwdriver and some WD-40.

This is the first time I've checked the reservoir so I'm not sure if I have to bleed the system. If so, I have no idea how to do that. My engine manual doesn't mention it.

Here's a link to my photobucket webpage showing the tilt/trim stuff while the engine is raised.

Please help!

I have the exact same Fastrack system. Do you here the motor whirl when the down switch is pressed. Open the resevoir and fill until it is level with the opening. The system is self purging. Try some Blaster on the manual release screw, make sure the retaining ring is not binding.

Default Johnson tilt issue

I too, have a 1999 Johnson OceanPro, but a 150 instead of 130. The issue I have is the motor will not tilt all the way up. I hear the trim motor running, but once it get up to a certain height, I have to manually assist with getting it up (in order to put it on the trailer). It tilts down no problem, but I think the weight helps with this. I checked the trim fluid level, and some spilled out once I removed the cap, so I know it is filled. How can I tell if the trim motor is going bad without taking it off? Are there other troubleshooting tips I could perform?

Thanks,
DJ

Hi there, I now have the same issue on a 97' 150 hp Ocean Pro. Just wondering if you were able to succesfully resolve it ?

The motor became stuck in the up position while we were out on the water. Lucky enough to be able to paddle to a home with a dock & they were kind enough to let us leaveit their and pick up later this week. Hoping to work out a fix and bring it home later this week.

Thanks for your time & help.
