Town Creek Marina
I bought a 2004 World cat 270 HTS with 150 hours on it from Lisa Alley and Steve Tulevech at Town Creek Marina in Beaufort N.C. and it turned out to be the WORST deal I have ever seen. Lisa flat out lied to me about the condition of the boat, lied about work she claims they did, will not provide service records for the boat, knew the boat had leaking engine hatches and was sucking salt water directly into the turbos, as they replaced 5-6 turbos, numerous alternators , several starters( I found this out from the first owner after the sale- Lisa would not give me his contact info before the sale), Town's mechanics stripped the port engines mounting lags for the motor mounts, they cut the trim indicator wires that are below the water line and then butt spliced them together, they sold me a new trailer that is not heavy duty enough for the boat and I had to replace all 6 tires with only 2000 miles on the trailer and a year later Steve Tulevech still has not sent me the correct trailer, Town Creek rammed my boat onto the trailer and damaged the sponsons fiberglass and they tried to hide the damage with black spray paint, instead of telling me, I ended up having to spend $7,000 to have repairs re-done that they had done, I sunk another $24,000 in miscellaneous repairs, and after all this, I could only keep the boat running long enough to take the boat out 2 times in the year I have owned it. The last time out the US Coast guard had to tow me back in 10 miles to port. After speaking to one of my attorneys he reviewed my insurance policy and found a clause that ended up with the insurance company surveying and totalling the boat with only 194 hours on it.
I would strongly suggest to anyone interested in buying a boat not to go to TCM. I would look for a dealer who is reputable and do your homework on-line, and make sure the dealer provides service records before the sale, and whatever you do do not use a surveyor a broker recommends. Just some thoughts from a guy who had to learn a few lessons the hard way.
