Death confirmed in Jackson County boating accident
Authorities have confirmed a fatal boating accident in the waterway around St. Andrews that spills into the Mississippi Sound.
First reports indicate personnel with the Department of Marine Resources witnessed the accident, which reportedly occurred when one boat ran into the back of another. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said the crash occurred in an area off Octavia Road. The DMR is the lead agency investigating the crash.
